Schwing America is pleased to announce Schwing pump owner and concrete contractor, Sean King, owner of King Construction, New Orleans, Louisiana, has played a major role in a Ford SuperDuty truck commercial. Mr. King received an offer to appear in the online Ford video after another contractor bowed out. “They wanted a contractor who did a lot of towing and owned Ford trucks,” according to King. He owns ten Ford trucks and an SP 305 Schwing concrete pump.
Congratulations to Dynamic Concrete, recipient of the Award of Excellence in Concrete in the Advanced Concrete Construction category. This award is granted by the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Alberta Chapter. The award recognized the team’s accomplishments in installing, placing and finishing the Gregg’s Distribution, Edmonton, Alberta distribution warehouse floor consisting of 575,000 square feet of joint-free hightolerance concrete flooring.
Irving Equipment is pleased to announce the addition of William Ohl, a hydraulic technician, to its concrete pump and heavy machinery division. Ohl brings over 15 years of experience within the industry to Irving, as well as wide-ranging knowledge of hydraulic and electrical components. His qualifications, experience, and skills make him just the right match for Irving.
Schwing America has hired a new purchasing manager to oversee the acquisition of materials and goods for their manufacturing process. Mike Rudolph brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position. “It takes a steady supply of raw materials, components and hardware to keep up with the demand for Schwing equipment,” stated Heinz Wortman, Schwing America’s chief operations and logistics officer. “Mike’s experience and knowledge will assist in the future growth of our manufacturing operation.”
Putzmeister America, Inc. received a Telly award for its 2012 holiday video in the 34th Annual Telly Awards contest, which received thousands of entries from around the world.
Schwing America is pleased to announce Sue Otten as director of marketing. Sue will have responsibility for all marketing functions, including strategic planning and communications, for the entire Schwing product line and Genuine Schwing Parts throughout North and South America. “Sue’s broad background in marketing, including branding, public relations, social media, internal communications and events, will be a great asset to Schwing America,” states CEO Brian Hazelton.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has promoted Sascha Wolfer to director supply chain for North and South America. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing material planning, purchasing and inventory management.
A Putzmeister employee for his entire career, Wolfer began working for the company nearly 20 years ago. Most recently, he served as purchasing master planner. In his new role, Wolfer will report to Dave Adams, president & CEO of Putzmeister.
Customers who purchased a new Schwing pump in the latter months of 2012 qualified for a free trip to Bauma 2013, the largest construction trade show in the world, held April 11-17 in Munich, Germany. The trade fair attracted more than 500,000 attendees with 3,700 exhibits spread over 140 acres. The group toured the Bauma fair and travelled to Rome before returning to the U.S.

MIT researchers have found that a pavement property called “deflection” could save more that $15 billion in annual fuel costs.
Pavement deflection occurs when a car makes slight indentations in the road, from which it must constantly drive out of, and which then results in burning more fuel. The effect is similar to someone walking on sand: with each step, the person’s feet sink and create a dip.
The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), Silver Spring, Maryland, have published Checklist for Concrete Producer—Concrete Contractor Fresh Concrete Performance Expectations. The document is in keeping with an initiative to facilitate a construction industry change from prescription specifications to performance specifications (P2P).

Keith Wayne, Kannapolis, North Carolina was re-elected secretary/treasurer. Commander Kirk Lippold, USN (Ret.), Commanding Officer of the USS Cole when it was attacked by al Qaeda in the port of Aden, Yemen, is the keynote speaker for the Concrete Executive Leadership Forum set for July 25-28, 2013 at The Breakers, Palm Beach, Florida. The forum is an event of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, Missouri, in partnership with Concrete Construction and Concrete International magazines.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has named Tim Harmann key account manager for its Putzmeister Pipe Technology division. In his new role, he will be responsible for helping to manage the division’s key customers and accounts, while assisting in strategic planning and business development opportunities.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has named Roger Anderson sales and marketing manager for its new concrete mixer line. His responsibilities will include the direct sale of mixers, as well as establishing the regional sales force in North and Latin America, and coordinating mar- keting activities.

Tao Xia has been hired by Schwing America to the position of controller. Xia brings an extensive work history to the job that will benefit Schwing for future growth. His international background is also valuable for global development.

In order to meet customer expectations for truck-mounted concrete pumps operating in the Northern U.S. and Canada, Schwing America has applied engineered solutions in order to meet the toughest frost laws. These frost laws can restrict travel on certain roads if modifications to the equipment are not provided. With the input of Schwing engineers, the type of truck, the boom length, the pump kit, wheelbase modifications and additional axles are considered to provide maximum utilization of the concrete pump by meeting frost laws and extending the pumping season.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has named Kevin Shaber product manager for its new concrete mixer line. In the new role, he is responsible for the overall strategy and engineering of Putzmeister’s ready mix trucks in North and Latin America.

Tom Oury was recently appointed to the position of Schwing central regional manager in the U.S. and Canada. Oury will be responsible for sales of Schwing’s line of concrete equipment and customer service in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and the province of Manitoba.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has named Drew Williams regional sales manager for the company’s new concrete mixer line. Previously, Williams served as inside sales and customer service manager for Putzmeister Shotcrete Technology.
As regional sales manager for the concrete mixer line, Williams will be responsible for demonstrating and selling the new equipment in his designated territory. He will report directly to Roger Anderson, sales and marketing manager for the concrete mixer line.
Schwing America is pleased to announce the acquisition of management control of Concrete Pump Repair (CPR) through the purchase of 50 percent of the company’s shares. Effective December 1, 2012, Concrete Pump Repair, located in North Branch, Minnesota, will operate as a subsidiary of Schwing America, Inc., a subsidiary of Schwing GmbH. Gerhard Schwing will continue as the owner of the remaining 50 percent of the company’s shares.
