Putzmeister America, Inc. has promoted Sascha Wolfer to director supply chain for North and South America. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing material planning, purchasing and inventory management.
A Putzmeister employee for his entire career, Wolfer began working for the company nearly 20 years ago. Most recently, he served as purchasing master planner. In his new role, Wolfer will report to Dave Adams, president & CEO of Putzmeister.
Customers who purchased a new Schwing pump in the latter months of 2012 qualified for a free trip to Bauma 2013, the largest construction trade show in the world, held April 11-17 in Munich, Germany. The trade fair attracted more than 500,000 attendees with 3,700 exhibits spread over 140 acres. The group toured the Bauma fair and travelled to Rome before returning to the U.S.

MIT researchers have found that a pavement property called “deflection” could save more that $15 billion in annual fuel costs.
Pavement deflection occurs when a car makes slight indentations in the road, from which it must constantly drive out of, and which then results in burning more fuel. The effect is similar to someone walking on sand: with each step, the person’s feet sink and create a dip.
The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), Silver Spring, Maryland, have published Checklist for Concrete Producer—Concrete Contractor Fresh Concrete Performance Expectations. The document is in keeping with an initiative to facilitate a construction industry change from prescription specifications to performance specifications (P2P).
