Schwing Appoints Bill Murray to Chief Financial Officer Position

Bill Murray has been appointed chief financial officer of Schwing America, Inc. while also being added to the company’s board of directors. In his new position, Murray will have responsibility for the finance, accounting and information technology areas within the company. Murray brings valuable experience to the position after working with Schwing for two years during his tenure at Lighthouse Management Group, a leading management consulting firm in the upper Midwest.

In an effort to increase the awareness of certification opportunities for concrete professionals, while promoting the advantages of such programs, eight concrete associations have joined forces to form the Concrete Industry Certification Consortium (CICC).

Economic Forecast…The Future’s Getting Brighter!

Portland Cement Association (PCA), April 30, 2012 - Stronger than expected job creation and the beginning of a construction industry recovery means gains in real construction spending will materialize this year—after seven years of consecutive declines.  According to the new forecast from the Portland Cement Association (PCA), increases in cement consumption will follow.

PCA revised its fall forecast upward, anticipating a modest 3.7 percent increase in 2012, followed by a 7.6 percent jump in 2013 and a 14.1 percent increase in 2014. 

Concrete Industry Management Program Holds Record-Breaking Auction at World of Concrete

The National Steering Committee (NSC) for the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program–a business intensive program that awards students with a four-year bachelor of science degree in concrete industry management–raised more than $617,750 in gross revenue at its seventh annual auction, held in conjunction with the World of Concrete on Wednesday, January 25.

Decorative Concrete Council Announces Award Winners

The Decorative Concrete Council, a specialty council of the American Society of Concrete Contractors, St. Louis, Missouri, has announced the winners of its fourth annual decorative concrete awards competition. The winners were recognized at a ceremony at the World of Concrete, Las Vegas, on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

TCA Elects New Board of Directors, Doncaster Elected President

Schwing Dealer Awards Presented at World of Concrete 2012

American Shotcrete Association Announces the Election of New President and Officers

The American Shotcrete Association (ASA) is pleased to announce the election of Joe Hutter, King Packaged Mate- rials Company, and the 2012 class of new officers and directors. Joe Hutter, King Packaged Materials Company, has been elected by the ASA membership to a oneyear term as president. Hutter is the vice-president of sales at King Packaged Material Company in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. He has more than 20 years of experience in the cement / shotcrete industry. Hutter is also the chair of ASA’s marketing committee.
