Schwing has announced its 2020 service seminar schedule, offering intermediate training for operators/mechanics; advanced training for mechanics; and vector training covering operator productivity, machine diagnostics and data for fleet management. The seminars are held at Schwing’s dedicated training facility in White Bear, Minnesota. Seminars include multi-media training aids and hands-on troubleshooting. Students also receive a service manual on CD-ROM, along with a printed copy of the training manual. Concrete pump owners, operators and mechanics are advised to sign up soon.

Terry Holmes has returned to Concord Concrete Pumps as sales director. In this role, he will be available to provide all customers with an amazing purchasing experience backed by decades of experience in helping companies to succeed.
Holmes has been in the pumping and crane industry for well over 35 years. In those years, his experience taught him that quality always pays off. “Quality has always been our priority and that’s why you see the first Concords ever built still pumping every day—while retaining their value,” he says.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has transitioned its refurb and repair center to longtime business partner, Kriete Group. The Kriete Truck Center—Racine, located in Franksville, Wisconsin will house the enhanced refurb center.
Schwing took a leadership position in 2019 with major sponsorships of leading associations that serve the concrete pumping industry. These include the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) Annual Conference held in September at the Westin Chicago in Ithaca, Illinois; the ASCC Concrete Leadership Forum (CELF) held in July in North Key Largo, Florida; and the Concrete Foundation Association’s Annual Convention in Denver, also held in July.
Putzmeister America, Inc. has appointed Phillip Ketcham as the regional sales manager for the Southeast. In his new role, Ketcham will be responsible for all sales, support, dealer and distributor activities within the region.
Ketcham’s previous roles at Putzmeister included sales representative efforts in both the southern and western states of the U.S.
Members of the press gathered at the Schwing factory in White Bear, Minnesota in mid-August, where executives of Mack Truck discussed market conditions for their line of construction trucks. Most encouraging for the concrete pumping industry was that the iconic truck manufacturer is predicting another strong year in the construction segment, where its Granite and TerraPro models have been top sellers.
Putzmeister America, Inc., has appointed Grant Sufferling as the new sales representative for the Southeast. In his role, Sufferling will report to Phillip Ketcham, the area’s regional sales manager.
Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Sufferling is responsible for representing the Putzmeister brand and its wide variety of industry-leading products. Previous to joining Putzmeister, Sufferling worked at Dell Technologies as an account manager.
Schwing is beginning to add QR codes to some of its equipment for operators to easily download relevant information for their machines. By placing a phone over the code, a QR code reader will download a quick reference guide applicable to that equipment. These guides cover operation and troubleshooting tips that are invaluable for keeping the machine running at peak performance.
The Safety & Risk Management Council (SRMC), a specialty council of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) has published a Pre-Construction Checklist for Safety Policies & Procedures. The purpose of the document is to stimulate discussion of job-specific safety protocol and procedures, with all pertinent parties prior to project start-up.
