The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA), Silver Spring, Maryland, have published Checklist for Concrete Producer—Concrete Contractor Fresh Concrete Performance Expectations. The document is in keeping with an initiative to facilitate a construction industry change from prescription specifications to performance specifications (P2P).
MIT researchers have found that a pavement property called “deflection” could save more that $15 billion in annual fuel costs.
Pavement deflection occurs when a car makes slight indentations in the road, from which it must constantly drive out of, and which then results in burning more fuel. The effect is similar to someone walking on sand: with each step, the person’s feet sink and create a dip.

Schwing has enlarged its display plus increased its presence at World of Concrete 2013 to be held in Las Vegas, February 4-8. Several hundred products introduced in the last year were considered. Bill Dlhosh has returned to Concrete Pump Supply in the role of equipment sales. The position will be responsible for sales of new and used concrete pumps. As the Putzmeister dealer for the Southeastern U.S. (excluding Florida), Bill will also be promoting CPS’ parts and service departments.

Putzmeister America, Inc. has added four parts sales representatives to its customer support group: Carlos Garcia, Gordy Hartwig, James Nelson and Keith Wall. In the role, they are each responsible for responding to customer requests and processing orders for customers located throughout North America.
A Putzmeister employee for more than eight years, Garcia previously worked as technical documentation specialist for the company. He also has experience in power tool service and repair.
Bill Murray has been appointed chief financial officer of Schwing America, Inc. while also being added to the company’s board of directors. In his new position, Murray will have responsibility for the finance, accounting and information technology areas within the company. Murray brings valuable experience to the position after working with Schwing for two years during his tenure at Lighthouse Management Group, a leading management consulting firm in the upper Midwest.
Putzmeister America, Inc. is in the process of re-branding all of its small line equipment, including Thom-Katt® trailer pumps, mortar machines and shotcrete equipment. Previously blue and cream, the small line equipment’s new standard colors are changing to yellow and gray.
The change in paint color reflects the streamlining of the overall Putzmeister brand and each of its product lines.
