ST. LOUIS, MO, July 2—Volunteer members of the Decorative Concrete Council (DCC), St. Louis, MO, traveled to Ken Caryl, CO (Southwest Denver) on May 28-29 to place and finish a decorative concrete slab for the Ken Caryl Veterans Monument. The monument is being built to commemorate veterans as well as those on active duty and in the reserves in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The DCC is a specialty council of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC).

LOUIS, MO, May 28, 2015 – Concrete Industry Management (CIM) students at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Murphysboro, TN, place concrete in a U-Shaped wall section formed the day before. The placement was part of a research project funded by the ASCC Education, Research and Development Foundation, St. Louis, MO, titled “Evaluation and Examination of ACI 347.3R ‘Guide to Formed Concrete Surfaces’.”

Schwing America has added a Western regional manager for its popular line of stationary pumps. Rich Ellis, former regional manager for boom pumps in the territory, will have expanded geographical responsibilities, covering the entire western half of the U.S. and Canada. “The demand for the stationary pump products requires a dedicated regional manager to provide the customer service expected from Schwing,” according to Tom O’Malley, vice president, general manager for concrete pumps.

A Putzmeister 63Z-meter truck-mounted concrete boom pump, considered the largest pump in Latin America, is placing concrete for the Moema station in Line 5 of the São Paulo Subway system. The pump was chosen by the engineering staff of the Consortium Helenus & Fonseca / Tiisa and tasked with transporting concrete to an average depth of 82 feet, the equivalent of an eight-story building.
The 63Z has a nearly 204-foot boom, which opens in a five-section, Z-fold formation to pump up to 175 cubic yards of concrete per hour. The pump is owned and operated by RentalMix.
