ACPA Announces New Board Members

At the ACPA Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation, the ACPA held elections for the Executive Board. The meeting convened February 5, 2020 in conjunction with World of Concrete 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Surf’s Up” Cocktail Party

This year, the World of Concrete cocktail party went with another music theme—this time with a “Surf’s Up” motif. A DJ spun classic surfer music and clips of famous beach movies were shown on the big screen throughout the event.

Attendees donned straw hats and had their photos taken in a cut-out classic VW van emblazoned with the ACPA logo, all against a tropical backdrop. And what would the beach be without a margarita bar? Good times!

ACPA Honors 2020 Awards Recipients

Carl Walker: ACPA Hall of Fame Award

Carl Walker was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and those who know Carl know to never refer to him as being from Dallas! Carl is a loyal Fort Worth native and attended schools in the suburb of River Oaks. He and his wife, Rebekah, have been married for thirty years and have three children: Callie, Robert and Levi; as well as three grandchildren: Dominic, Henry and Poppy, with another granddaughter, Charlotte, due on his birthday, June 18.

Safety Culture and Concrete Pumpers: A Successful Mix

According to the National Safety Council (NSC), a “near miss” is an unplanned event that did not result in injury, illness or damage, but had the potential to do so. In fact, only a fortunate break in the chain of events prevented these things from happening.

Max Bowman

Longtime ACPA member, Max Bowman of Star Equipment. Ltd. passed away quietly this past Saturday. Max was one of the industry’s original pioneers of concrete pumping equipment and a Schwing dealer for well over 30 years.

Richard O'Brien

On March 21st, our industry lost one of its original “pioneers” with the passing of Richard O’Brien of O’Brien Concrete Pumping in Denver, Colorado. While many of you may have only know Richard for his emails and newsletter The Irish Dreamer, at heart he was a true champion of the industry devoted to educating pumpers on the value of their services and how to increase profits.

ACPA and COVID-19

As we continue to come with grips on the impact COVID-19 has made on our daily lives, I want to provide you with an update on our ongoing efforts to continue to serve our membership while ensuring the safety and well-being of the Association's staff.
