DY Concrete Pumps Hosts 10-Year Anniversary Pump Rodeo and Roundup in Texas

DY Concrete Pumps celebrated a major milestone this summer, marking 10 years of business in North America with an unforgettable anniversary event at the company’s Texas headquarters. The “DY 10-Year Anniversary Pump Rodeo and Roundup” welcomed customers, families, friends and industry partners for a full day of celebration, competition and connection.

We invited everybody to “bring your family to meet our family.” The event opened DY’s factory doors to the public, offering both guided and self-led tours through the facility from the parts department and production floor to the paint booth, pipe shop and renowned service center. For many visitors, it was their first opportunity to see where DY pumps are assembled, maintained and supported.

The highlight of the day was the Concrete Pump Rodeo, where 12 skilled operators competed head-to-head in a Texas-themed course designed to test precision, speed and machine control. Featuring obstacles like barrel racing, calf roping and chicken cooping, the event delivered both serious skill and serious fun. Operators ran the course using a brand-new DY 40X-5ZR, and in the end, Benny from Cyclone Concrete Pumping took home the grand prize: a custom rodeo belt buckle, hand-crafted by renowned rodeo silversmith Troy Fischer.

Beside the rodeo arena, DY hosted a pump show that drew in customer-owned DYs from across the state. With booms in the air and rigs polished to impress (or proudly showing their battle scars), the trucks competed across eight fun categories including “Battle Scarred,” “Cleanest Hopper,” and “Texas Legend.” Each winner received a one-of-a-kind DY banner to take home to show off their win.

Throughout the day, guests enjoyed a full lineup of Texas-style activities that brought out the fun in everyone. The dunk tank quickly stole the show, to nobody’s surprise. “Dunk Darcy” was an instant crowd favorite, drawing a steady line of coworkers, customers and kids all eager to send him into the water.

Just steps away, the armadillo races gave attendees a chance to jump into the arena and cheer on their favorite critter, while the mechanical bull, axe throwing, petting zoo and bounce houses kept the energy high for guests of all ages. Also, back by popular demand after its debut at World of Concrete, DY’s VR Concrete Pump Simulator returned with brand-new course updates, and was once again a hit with both kids and seasoned operators alike. From barbecue and tacos to live music from a full nine-piece country band, the day was packed with food, fun and that unmistakable Texan flair.

DY was proud to welcome industry partners including ACPA, Daimler Trucks North America, Western Star, Freightliner, International Trucks and Mark Oliver Financial Services, whose presence and support helped make the day a success. DY President Joe Delehay opened the event with remarks on the company’s journey, highlighting the growth, grit and relationships that have shaped DY into a trusted name in the concrete pump industry.

The 10-Year Roundup and Pump Rodeo was a true celebration of what sets DY apart: dedicated people, reliable machines and a strong community of customers and partners. With 10 years behind us and plenty more ahead, DY is ready for the many decades to come!
