Schwing Hosts Operator Safety Seminar

Men and women from throughout the Midwest met on May 4 for an ACPA operator training seminar. Former Schwing employee and industry expert, Dan Mace, conducted the seminar at Schwing’s dedicated training facility at its White Bear, Minnesota factory. “Schwing has always promoted the ACPA’s safety initiatives and hosting this seminar was an easy decision,” said Tom O’Malley, senior VP at Schwing and a current ACPA board member. Nearly 50 people attended the all-day session that included lunch. A certification test was administered at the end.

The ACPA offers the only nationally recognized safety certification program for concrete pump operators. More than 5,000 concrete pump operators nationwide have received training to help them achieve the highest degree of professionalism and to maintain the strictest standards for safety. Certification has been shown to improve safety, decrease accident rates in the workplace, and has become a critical standard for customers looking for reliable, high-quality pumping contractors.

Certification can be attained by attending operator training seminars held throughout the U.S. and Latin America or by watching the ACPA Operator Safety Presentation. This DVD, available from ACPA, is a narrated version of the “live” ACPA Operator Safety Seminar PowerPoint presentation and is designed to give operators easier access to fulfilling the safety training requirement for certification.
