Schwing Customer Advisory Council Met September 10–13

Described as one of the driving forces behind Schwing’s continued innovation and success, the company’s Customer Advisory Council met at its corporate headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, September 10–13.

During the session, the Council, made up of customers who run companies of all sizes, met with Schwing representatives from management, engineering, quality control, sales and marketing. Topics covered included: new product development, in which the Council offered input on Schwing’s next two boom development projects; a discussion of chassis-related issues, including future chassis requirements for Schwing customers, conventional versus cabover, and automatic/ automated manual transmissions; impact of the recent tax law changes on equipment purchasing decisions; a look at the economic forecast; a discussion of the used equipment business; what’s new in parts and service; and several “hands on” product demonstrations.

“We always welcome the opportunity to meet with the Council,” said Tom O’Malley, Schwing senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Many of our recent major product introductions—the S 38 SX 38-meter concrete pump, for example—were largely a result of the input from the group. Their feedback allows us to better meet the needs of all our customers, improve existing products or services, consider new ones, and so on. Simply put, no one knows our products better than those who use them. The input we gather through the Council is not only invaluable—drawing upon it just makes good sense.”
