In a move that brings an experienced sales professional back to Schwing America, the company has rehired Shaun Nelson as the Western Central regional manager. Nelson formerly filled the same position from 2000 through 2008 for Schwing. His region includes his home state of Texas as well as Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. “We are pleased to attract Shaun back to concrete pump sales, where he excelled in his previous stint with us,” explains Tom O’Malley, vice president and general manager for concrete pumps.

On November 28, 2014, a truck cab suddenly caught fire on Highway 101 in Los Angeles. The following day, onlookers at a truck stop in Natomas watched as flames from a parked burning big rig truck cab spread to two adjoining trucks, destroying all three vehicles. One day after that, at a fueling station in Dunnigan, another big rig truck cab burst into flames, resulting in the vehicle’s total loss and subsequent shutdown of the fueling station itself—fortunately without injury or loss of life.
In conjunction with the newly reorganized Putzmeister Parts Sales Customer Support Group, Putzmeister America, Inc. has announced a number of personnel changes for several of its longtime employees.
Eric Zimmermann has been promoted to director of parts sales and pipe technology. In his new role, Zimmermann will be responsible for overseeing Putzmeister’s new Parts Sales Customer Support Group, while continuing his leadership role managing Putzmeister Pipe Technology.
Schwing customers in the western U.S. and Canada will now be served by Matt Donnelly in the new position of western regional manager. Matt will apply his 10 years of experience with Schwing to represent the full line of boom pumps and separate placing booms in California, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. He is also responsible for the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

Dennis C. Ahal, past president, American Society of Concrete Contractors, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the ASCC on September 18, 2014 at the organization’s annual conference in Denver, Colorado. The Lifetime Achievement Award is ASCC’s highest honor, acknowledging recipients for their body of work within the industry and their service to ASCC.
Ahal was president of ASCC from 1997 to 1998. He has also served on the technical review, liaison, nominating and administrative committees and led the organization’s first strategic planning process.
