Conco Wins ACI Award

ACPA member The Conco Companies, Concord, California, was awarded second place in the High Rise Buildings category of ACI’s Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards at ACI’s Fall Convention held October, 2017 in Anaheim, California. This was quite an honor, as there were only 12 winners from around the world. The award-wining project was Premiere on Pine, Seattle, Washington, one of the tallest residential towers in the city. At 440 feet, this 42-story building features 386 apartments, a rooftop sky lounge, five levels of above-grade parking and five levels below.

The tower’s use of high-strength concrete and reinforcing steel created maximum floor space for the small site, and is the first building in Seattle to have a specified concrete strength of 15,000 psi in its columns.

Along with showcasing the technological advancements in the concrete industry over the last couple of decades, it allowed the high-strength columns to be smaller than those found in similarly-sized projects. “Conco is extremely honored to receive the award from the ACI. We are proud to have been selected for this innovative project and to have been a part of this exceptional team,” states Joe Sostaric, vice president, The Conco Companies.
