The Concrete Foundations Association (CFA) announced the 2015 award recipients at the CFA Convention 2015 in Williamsburg, Virginia, on July 24, 2015. Awards included Associate Member of the Year, bestowed upon Tom Oury, Schwing central regional manager. The Associate Member of the Year award is new, offered by the CFA board of directors to recognize special effort and commitment to the association by an individual from one of the many national associate companies. National associate members are the national supplier and manufacturer members of the association.
“Tom was nominated by several CFA members for the amount of effort he has made in serving the CFA through the board of directors,” says Jim Baty, CFA executive director. “Attending four meetings per year is not easy in today’s busy world of business, and yet since being elected to the board, Tom has participated in the vast majority of meetings. His leadership on the board has led to new ideas and growth opportunities.
Oury began his career at Rotec Industries, manufacturers of mass concrete placing equipment for dams and heavy civil projects. Tom then served as district sales manager in the Midwest for Somero Enterprises, manufacturers of the Laser Screed, eventually rising to vice president of sales—Western region U.S., Australia and Asia, after more than ten years. He joined Schwing America in early 2013. His responsibilities include the complete line of Schwing truck-mounted and stationary pumps and related concrete placing equipment. Oury holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. He resides in Illinois with his family.
