In a move that brings an experienced sales professional back to Schwing America, the company has rehired Shaun Nelson as the Western Central regional manager. Nelson formerly filled the same position from 2000 through 2008 for Schwing. His region includes his home state of Texas as well as Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. “We are pleased to attract Shaun back to concrete pump sales, where he excelled in his previous stint with us,” explains Tom O’Malley, vice president and general manager for concrete pumps.

Putzmeister America, Inc. has announced significant upgrades to its Thom-Katt® Trailer Pump line. The TK 40, TK 50, TK 60 HP and TK 70 are the first models to feature a relocated fuel tank and a new control box with display. The fuel tank relocation will be featured on the single and tandem axle units and will allow for increased ground clearance. The new TKs will be able to go where previous models could not, allowing for better access over rugged or uneven terrain.
Irving Equipment has announced that plans are underway on a $4.4 million expansion. This includes a 40,000 square-foot building on eight acres of land located at 1785 CR 1, near its existing facility in Tiffin, Ohio. The expansion became necessary due to growth and increased demand for products, such as concrete pumps and cranes.

The American Concrete Institute announces the availability of a new invaluable publication for concrete industry designers, suppliers, and contractors—Legal Issues in Concrete Construction, Second Edition, authored by by Jeffrey W. Coleman, P.E., FACI, attorney at law.
The author provides interpretations of the courts’ findings and contrasts the decisions with other results where possible. This second edition of Legal Issues in Concrete Construction contains over 150 cases—more than three times the number of cases as the first edition— and it assembles the cases into 23 chapters.
A Putzmeister 63Z-meter truck-mounted concrete boom pump, considered the largest pump in Latin America, is placing concrete for the Moema station in Line 5 of the São Paulo Subway system. The pump was chosen by the engineering staff of the Consortium Helenus & Fonseca / Tiisa and tasked with transporting concrete to an average depth of 82 feet, the equivalent of an eight-story building.
The 63Z has a nearly 204-foot boom, which opens in a five-section, Z-fold formation to pump up to 175 cubic yards of concrete per hour. The pump is owned and operated by RentalMix.
On the eve of World of Concrete 2015, more than 300 notable pumping contractors, major suppliers to the industry, ACPA executives and Schwing customers gathered for a reception to mark the company’s continuous presence as the largest manufacturer of concrete pumps in North America. “Our annual reception is a great networking and learning opportunity for our customers, vendors and employees,” states Tom O’Malley, vice president and general manager, concrete pumps. Schwing America has added a Western regional manager for its popular line of stationary pumps. Rich Ellis, former regional manager for boom pumps in the territory, will have expanded geographical responsibilities, covering the entire western half of the U.S. and Canada. “The demand for the stationary pump products requires a dedicated regional manager to provide the customer service expected from Schwing,” according to Tom O’Malley, vice president, general manager for concrete pumps.

Schwing customers in the western U.S. and Canada will now be served by Matt Donnelly in the new position of western regional manager. Matt will apply his 10 years of experience with Schwing to represent the full line of boom pumps and separate placing booms in California, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. He is also responsible for the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
In conjunction with the newly reorganized Putzmeister Parts Sales Customer Support Group, Putzmeister America, Inc. has announced a number of personnel changes for several of its longtime employees.
Eric Zimmermann has been promoted to director of parts sales and pipe technology. In his new role, Zimmermann will be responsible for overseeing Putzmeister’s new Parts Sales Customer Support Group, while continuing his leadership role managing Putzmeister Pipe Technology.
