ACPA’s Safety Campaign Microsite Wins Awards

A great way to gain exposure is to receive accolades and awards. This is why the American Concrete Pumping Association is pleased to report that WeAreSaferTogether.org was recognized with multiple awards in recent months. The microsite was recognized in April with a Gold Award by the Hermes 2023 Creative Awards, and in May with a 2023 Communicator Award of Distinction for exceeding industry standards for quality and achievement.

Marketing consultant and association management services firm AOE worked with the ACPA to develop the microsite as a key component of a safety campaign that brings heightened awareness of ASME B30.27, the safety standard for material placement systems, to concrete pumpers and contractors.

The campaign highlights the responsibilities of each trade working with or around a concrete pump under the standard, with the ultimate goal of keeping every person on a job site safe. The microsite serves as an educational resource that provides job site responsibilities by trade, videos, downloadable flyers, testimonials, FAQs and much more.

International Recognition

“We are excited that the safety campaign website has received international recognition by marketing and communications professionals,” said Christi Collins, ACPA executive director. “We also are thankful for the concrete industry leaders who have stepped up to support this campaign, and we are actively seeking more organizations, including concrete contractors, to join our coalition. Together, we will raise awareness and help create a safer work environment for everyone.”

Launched in January at the World of Concrete, the campaign’s goal is to encourage partnering across all the trades, because when we all work together, we create a safer environment for everyone. In March, the ACPA took our message to CONEXPO-CON/AGG, inviting companies and organizations across the concrete industry to join the campaign’s coalition of industry partners.

Industry Partners Speak

To date, the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), Concrete Foundations Association (CFA), Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) and concrete contractor Joseph J. Albanese, based in California, have pledged their support:

“Concrete placement plays an integral role in the day-to-day activities for concrete contractors. Many variables and degrees of responsibility are based on scope of work and parties involved. The ACPA job site safety awareness campaign helps communicate responsibilities to those who own, operate and work around concrete pumps. This campaign strives to ensure those involved are aware of the related hazards and understand their roles and responsibilities under the ASME B30.27 standard to ensure safe work conditions and practices are met. The American Society of Concrete Contractors is proud to partner with ACPA, a committed industry partner, to help spread awareness around job site safety.”

— ASCC Director of Safety Services Joseph Whiteman

“High pressure and tight schedules require increasing awareness of the standards and practices that help keep workers safe. We’ve seen too many significant injuries on projects, even by safety-conscious contractors. The Concrete Foundations Association is proud to support this critically important job site safety campaign and spread the message about the B30.27 standard to anybody who owns, operates or works around concrete pumps.”

— CFA Executive Director James R. Baty II, FACI

“Increasing awareness of the standards and practices that help keep workers safe is an ongoing part of our commitment to the future of this industry. The Tilt-Up Concrete Association supports this imperative job site safety campaign, which highlights each trade’s responsibilities under B30.27. We will be an active partner to spread the message to anybody who owns, operates or works around concrete pumps — significant contributors to the growth of tilt-up construction.”

— TCA Executive Director Mitch Bloomquist

“At Joseph J. Albanese, we are fully devoted to our mission of ‘Getting It Done Safely!’ This is why we support this incredibly important job site safety campaign. When each trade understands their responsibilities under B30.27 when working with or around a concrete pump, the entire job site is safer.”

— John Messing, JJA Safety Director
