ACPA Members Help Raise More Than $2 Million for CIM Program

Donations from ACPA members helped the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program raise over $2.1 million in its annual auction, held in conjunction with World of Concrete on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

The record-breaking proceeds go to benefit a business-intensive program that awards students with a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in concrete industry management.

The program’s mission is to produce well-educated, articulate graduates grounded in basic construction management, who are knowledgeable about concrete technology and techniques and can manage people and systems, as well as promote products or services related to the concrete industry. The program includes a broad range of academic courses, from English and history to science and mathematics. In addition, concrete-specific courses teach the fundamentals of concrete, properties and testing, concrete construction and more. These concrete-focused courses go beyond rote learning to emphasize practical problem- solving, quality assurance and customer satisfaction within the concrete industry.

ACPA members participating in the CIM auction include Alliance Concrete Pumps, which donated a 2023 JXLZ 38-meter pump that sold for $505,000 to East Coast Concrete Pumping of South Carolina; a $20,000 parts credit from Putzmeister, purchased by Conco Pumping and Belting, Inc. of California; and a brand-new Somero S-465 laser screed machine.

ACPA executive director Christi Collins says, “We’re proud that our members helped advance the tremendous success of this year’s CIM auction. ACPA greatly values training and education for the concrete industry, and we appreciate the generosity and dedication of our members that helped make this year’s event a record-breaking success.”

CIM Auction committee chairman Ben Robuck adds, “The auction results are indicative of the high value this industry places on the CIM program and the need for talented leaders in the industry.”
