American Concrete Pumping Association Creates Legacy Award

The American Concrete Pumping Association announces its newly instated Legacy Award for past and future recipients of ACPA’s Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement and Pioneer awards. The Legacy Award will give past award-winners and future recipients of these awards lifetime membership in the ACPA upon their retirement from the concrete pumping industry.

“Many of our past award winners were instrumental in the formation of ACPA and the procedures and safety practices we have in place today,” says Chris Pernicano, ACPA membership committee chair and CEO of San Diego Concrete Pumping. “The Legacy Award provides a path to ensure our industry remains engaged with the wealth of knowledge and expertise these individuals offer.”

One requirement for ACPA membership is active engagement in the concrete pumping industry. The Legacy Award will allow any previous award winner the opportunity to continue to be involved in ACPA after they are no longer working in the industry, should they choose to do so.

“We’re thrilled to honor the men and women who have helped shape the concrete pumping industry with lifetime membership through the Legacy Award,” says Christi Collins, ACPA executive director. “The Legacy Award is our way of letting them know they’ll always be a part of us. We want to encourage them to continue participating and attending ACPA meetings and other events.”

Outside the concrete and construction industry, other groups follow similar models allowing members to maintain involvement throughout retirement.

The ACPA membership committee and National Office is currently contacting past ACPA award recipients to inform them of their Legacy Award status. Legacy Award recipients will appear in the ACPA membership directory and will remain on all ACPA mailings.

ACPA Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement and Pioneer awards, are presented annually to promote merit and achievement in the concrete pumping industry and to recognize individuals who have made exemplary contributions to ACPA and the concrete pumping industry.
