ACPA Honors 2021 Safe Operator of the Year

Safety is one of American Concrete Pumping Association’s (ACPA’s) highest priorities, and our goal is to foster a culture of safety at every level in the concrete pumping industry. Recognizing the finest examples of safety is one way we uphold our commitment to this mission. This year, we’re proud to name Steve Meyers of Cemstone Products, Inc., as ACPA’s 2021 Safe Operator of the Year.

ACPA and ASCC Partner for Coworker Safety

In an exciting new venture, the ACPA and American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), are joining efforts to fill a gap in safety training on job sites. A new safety curriculum, developed by a joint committee of ACPA and ASCC members, will educate hose handlers and other coworkers on the concrete job site on the safe practices related to working with or around the concrete pump.

New Year, New Era

As we enter 2022, we’ve been thinking about how absolutely essential it is, now more than ever, to carefully consider the state of your organization as it moves into a new era. The last two years have disrupted life as we all knew it, and the coronavirus pandemic has created a new business landscape. The time to thoughtfully consider how your business navigates risk is now.

Habitat for Humanity: An Overview

In 2020, the ACPA was asked by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) to participate in a project to build concrete homes in the U.S. for Habitat for Humanity (HFH). The idea was for ACPA members to donate their services; the members of NRMCA and the Insulated Concrete Forms Association (ICFMA) would donate the materials for the homes. For tax purposes, all ACPA members would receive a “donation in kind” document in exchange for their services. The idea was presented and approved by the ACPA Board of Directors. Other than member contributions, there was no financial requirement of the ACPA.

Weatherton Scholarship Awarded to Three Inspiring Students

The American Concrete Pumping Association is proud to announce Leighton Landreth, Dominick Willman and Shelby Willy as co-recipients of this year’s Bob Weatherton Scholarships. These inspiring students represent the same leadership and spirit exemplified by the late “Big Bob” Weatherton of The Concrete Pump Store in California. Bob served on the ACPA Board of Directors for more than 40 years and is remembered as one of the industry’s most avid champions.
