Beton America has appointed Brent Weilbacher as the new regional sales manager for the South region covering seven states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, New Mexico and Arizona.
Brent comes to Betonstar with industry experience, having previously worked for a Putzmeister small line dealer in Texas. His knowledge and dedication will help customers easily transition into Betonstar Concrete Pumps’ full product offering.
Concrete Pumping Holdings has announced that Clint Price has been promoted to the role of director of risk management, replacing Randy Waterman. Clint has been with Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping since the acquisition of CPI in 1999. Clint started with the company as a concrete pump operator and has worked in the safety department as branch safety manager, regional safety manager, and most recently as Concrete Pumping Holdings’ director of EHS. Clint will be relocating from Utah to the Denver area to work out of the corporate office.
The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced the launch of NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete, at its spring convention in Orlando, Florida. NEU aims to collaborate globally to drive research, education, awareness and adoption of carbon neutral materials and technologies in the industry.
Robert Hamilton has rejoined SCHWING America as a field service technician. Robert brings more than ten years of relevant experience with heavy machinery, including concrete pumps. His most recent experience was with a concrete pumping company in the Southwest.
“We’re excited to have Robert back on the team,” reports Tom Jaeger, SCHWING’s service manager. “Robert’s attention to detail, excellent customer service and outside-thebox thinking elevate the product support level we provide.”
In April 2021, ASTM C94/C94M-21, Specification for Ready-Mixed Concrete, was updated with two significant changes that do away with the 90-minute default time limit for ready mixed concrete. Since its inception in 1933, the standard has required a time limit of 1.5 hours from the start of mixing to the completion of discharge.
While the American Concrete Institute has not made such revisions, ACI 301, Specifications for Structural Concrete, refers to C94 for discharge time limits.
In April, five ACPA members traveled to Washington, D.C., along with executive director Christi Collins, to meet with members of Congress at the annual North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) Cement & Concrete Fly-In. NACA’s two-day event featured Capitol Hill visits, briefings and a reception, during which participants discussed critical issues with key administration and congressional leaders.
In April, we joined our fellow cement and concrete industry groups for the Washington Fly-In, in person for the first time in a couple of years. In dozens of meetings on Capitol Hill, ACPA’s seven participants made the case for the Concrete Pump Tax Fairness Act; against favorable treatment for mass timber construction; for federal workforce support for technical training; and against short-term reductions in the federal gas tax.
John Weatherhead passed away on April 13, 2022, in The Villages, Florida. A loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend, known for his easy smile and contagious laugh, John was a respected publisher, avid golfer, spirited traveler and a real sports aficionado.

World of Concrete welcomed students from California State University — Chico, Middle Tennessee State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Texas State University to present their industry papers at a competition on Monday afternoon.
