Concrete Employee Safety DVD Released by the ASCC

The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, has released its new Employee Safety Orientation DVD for concrete contractors. The training tool was developed by members of the ASCC’s Safety & Risk Management Council (SRMC) and released at the World of Concrete 2014.

“This 40-minute presentation on the basics of concrete construction safety topics can be used by concrete contractors to educate new employees and as a refresher for seasoned workers,” says Janet Greco, SRMC chair.

ASCC Thirteenth Annual Conference

The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) will hold its thirteenth annual conference on September 18-21, 2014 at the Westin Westminster, Denver, Colorado.

Concrete contractors, manufacturers, designers and other industry professionals will gather for three days of educational and networking opportunities. Speakers include Jerry Holland, Bob Simonelli, Wally Adamchik and Jeff Coleman.

Putzmeister America, Inc. Names Sebastian Vidal President and CEO of Putzmeister Mexico

Putzmeister America, Inc. has hired Sebastian Vidal as president and CEO of its new operation in Mexico. As head of Putzmeister Mexico, a division of Putzmeister America, Vidal will be responsible for overseeing the establishment of a manufacturing plant based in Monterrey, Mexico, located approximately 125 miles from the U.S. border.

New Schwing Separate Placing Boom Brochure

Schwing has published a new brochure featuring the company’s line of separate placing booms for mounting on most any structure for high volume placement hundreds of feet from the pump. The 12-page brochure covers applications and advantages of the Schwing exclusive octagonal masts, including mounting choices and specifications. Schwing manufactures three separate placing boom sizes—28, 35 and 37-meters—as well as truck-mounted concrete pumps with detachable placing booms, the S 39 SX and S 41 SX.

Putzmeister America, Inc. Adds Kevin Brost as Technical Services Representative

Putzmeister America, Inc. has hired Kevin Brost as a traveling technical services representative responsible for responding to customer requests for equipment service worldwide. In the role, he also will be conducting new machine in-service and operator training.

With more than 13 years of experience in the concrete industry, Brost was most recently involved in sales, operator training, and field service while working for a Putzmeister Telebelt® dealer. He also has experience with operations and maintenance.

Ed Lothamer Receives Tom Anderson Lifetime Achievement Award

Longtime ACPA supporter and 43-year veteran of the concrete pumping industry, Ed Lothamer was given the Tom Anderson Lifetime Achievement Award by Schwing. The award ceremony took place at World of Concrete 2014 in Las Vegas. Lothamer is only the eighth recipient of the Tom Anderson award honoring outstanding contributions to Schwing America and the concrete pumping Industry. Lothamer was a principal in Concrete Placement, Inc.

Putzmeister America, Inc. Establishes Putzmeister Mexico

Putzmeister America, Inc. has announced the establishment of Putzmeister Mexico, a division of Putzmeister America, which will include a manufacturing plant based in Monterrey, Mexico, located approximately 125 miles from the U.S. border.

“Creating a division of Putzmeister America in Mexico has been a goal of ours for a long time,” said Dave Adams, Putzmeister America’s president and CEO. “The central location of this division and manufacturing plant will allow us to better serve our customers in Mexico and throughout Latin America.”

Schwing Hires New Regional Manager in Latin America

Schwing America has hired a new regional manager for South America. Octavio Perdomo Berdugo will represent the company’s line of concrete pumps, truck mixers, recyclers and batch plants in South America except for Brazil, where Schwing has a manufacturing plant. He replaces Jorge Beals who served for five years in the position.
