Nick Rice Named Schwing Field Service Tech

Schwing has added Nick Rice to its field service staff to support a growing number of customers nationwide. “Nick brings a wealth of expertise to the job to help us out in the Southeast region,” according to Myron Birschbach, vice president of aftermarket products. Rice served as a technician with a concrete pumper in Texas before joining Amerit Fleet Solutions, where his most recent position was replacing components on frac sand pumps in the oil fields. Rice joins a factory staff of Schwing technicians strategically located around the U.S.

Concrete Pump Supply Announces Growth Strategy

Long-time concrete parts and systems provider Concrete Pump Supply (CPS) is preparing for growth by investing in inventory, people and a new, over 100,000 square foot facility. “It’s about hiring the right people and letting them build the organization,” says Pat Inglese, CEO. “No matter how much product inventory you have, operation systems in place and facility square footage, it wouldn’t work unless you have excellent employees build it.”

ASCC Opens Registration for Concrete Executive Leadership Forum

Registration for the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) Concrete Executive Leadership Forum (CELF) is now open. The 2018 CELF is July 19–22 at Montage Deer Valley, Park City, Utah. “Executives from the nation’s leading concrete contracting and general contracting firms attend the forum every year to bolster their leadership and management skills,” says Bev Garnant, executive director, ASCC.

Schwing WOC Reception Features Dealer Awards

Prior to World of Concrete 2018, charter exhibitor Schwing America held a reception for customers and friends at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas. More than 500 people attended. Schwing CEO Bill Murray made opening remarks to the record crowd with thanks to all for the company’s excellent sales in 2017. Senior vice president of sales and marketing, Tom O’Malley, also addressed the crowd with information about the company’s new products being introduced at Schwing’s signature booth in the Central Hall.

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) delivered its first-ever state of the concrete industry in Houston, Texas, during the opening general session of its annual convention. Concrete Pump Repair Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Concrete Pump Repair (CPR), a Schwing company, is celebrating 30 years in business. The company’s facility, located 30 miles north of the Schwing plant, repairs, repaints, retrucks and refurbishes all brands of concrete pumps and also sells pre-owned units. Georgia Bill Would Leave Savannah Exposed to Hurricane Threat

Legislation currently being considered by the Georgia State Senate – House Bill 876 – would, if signed into law, prevent cities like Savannah from enacting local measures to strengthen their building codes, whether it be for fire or safety reasons or ecological concerns.

Georgia Legislation Would Imperil Building Safety, Local Autonomy

The Georgia State Senate is now considering legislation – House Bill 876 – that would prevent cities and towns throughout the Peach State from enacting local measures to strengthen their building codes in part, because of fire and safety concerns.  The bill, which recently passed the Georgia House of Representatives and cleared the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, would cede authority away from local lawmakers toward Atlanta, limiting the critical decision-making power of those who understand the needs of their neighbors.

CPE America Announces Spring Training Schedule

In January 2018, CPE America began its training program for Everdigm Concrete Pumps. Coming this spring, there will a training course each month that is FREE for current CPE America customers and will offer special rates for guests. The course takes place over two days at the facility in Metter, Georgia.

Three More Philly Labor Groups Commit to Stronger Building Codes

Build with Strength, a coalition of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association consisting of civic organizations, fire service professionals, architects, engineers and industry experts committed to enacting safer and more sustainable building standards, is pleased to welcome three of Philadelphia’s top labor unions –– Local 592 (Cement Masons), Local 405 (Iron Workers), and the Philadelphia Metal Trades Council – as new members of the coalition.  The community labor organizations join a growing list of advocates that are working to ensure that the most vulnerable residents in cities such as Philadelphia have access to safe and secure housing.
