Schwing Customers Attend Bauma 2016

A contingent of more than 100 Schwing customers and employees joined a recordsetting crowd at Bauma 2016, the largest construction trade show in the world, held April 11-17 in Munich. The Schwing customers earned their trips by purchasing a concrete pump through a 2015 sales promotion. The international trade fair attracted more than 580,000 attendees from 200 countries, with 3,423 exhibits spread over 140 acres. The group toured the Bauma Fair for two days before travelling to Prague for sightseeing.

Schwing’s Bauma display featured the company’s complete line of concrete equipment, including truck and trailer-mounted concrete pumps, separate placing booms, batch plants and truck mixers, along with some new technological innovations. Schwing GmbH, the parent company of the Schwing Group, maintains a permanent exhibit building with restaurant and bar at the Bauma site. Of particular interest to the U.S. customers was Schwing’s new flagship boom, the five-section S 65 SX with all five-inch pipeline. Also drawing a crowd was the new S 38 SX, featuring a one-of-a-kind five-section Roll and Fold boom with hyperextended articulation at every folding point. The new 38-meter successfully combines a 23-foot front outrigger spread with 122’ of vertical reach and an industry-leading 915 degrees of total articulation. The S 38 SX will meet federal bridge weight laws when mounted on a conventional chassis. Both the S 65 SX and S 38 SX will be introduced in the U.S. at World of Concrete 2017.

After the Bauma Fair, the Schwing contingent enjoyed a private party with Gerard Schwing at the world famous Hofbrau House in Munich. Other highlights included day trips in the German countryside before travelling to Prague. “Our group included customers from Canada, Latin America and the United States. It was great to see them network among our German engineers and executives at the fair, and then enjoy a wonderful social opportunity as we toured Prague,” said Tom O’Malley, vice president / general manager of concrete pumps for Schwing.
