Wisconsin Pumper Thinks Pink For Breast Cancer

“It’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t had a friend or relative that has been affected by breast cancer,” says Mike Salmon, manager of Gordy’s Concrete Pumping, Milwaukee. So when they purchased a refurbished Schwing S 61 SX from Concrete Pump Repair (CPR), they decided it was time to make a statement about the issue. “It was something we had been thinking about for several years,” Salmon adds, regarding Gordy’s owner, Jim Walters, and the rest of 20-pump company’s team. “We figured if we were going to go pink, we would do it on a large scale with the 61,” Salmon says. CPR was happy to oblige with a striking pink paint job executed at their facility in North Branch, Minnesota.

Gordy’s, which was incorporated in 1964, also decided to back up their pink pump statement with a commitment. The company will donate a portion of the revenue from every yard of concrete pumped to the Susan G. Komen organization that educates, supports research, offers grants and advocates for better breast cancer policy. “There has been a lot accomplished,” Salmon notes, “but there’s a lot more work to be done and we decided to do our part.”
