Let’s celebrate safety! The first week of May, May 1-5, is Construction Safety Week 2023. The week-long event originated in 2014 to unite the construction industry in their commitment to safety. And, of course, it’s also a time to learn about what’s new and trending in safety.
So, what’s new in safety? In January 2023, the ACPA launched a campaign to help pumpers, contractors and everyone in-between, understand their responsibilities and ensure a safer environment during concrete placement. The We Are Safer Together campaign aligns with the Construction Safety Week theme, “Strong Voices, Safe Choices.” The goal of this campaign is to promote safer practices when working around a concrete pump, so that everyone feels confident in their ability to identify and call attention to potential hazards when they see them. To access the campaign resources developed by the ACPA, go to www.wearesafertogether.org.
Every year Construction Safety Week is an opportunity to collectively reflect on your company’s commitment to safety. It’s important to have conversations that encourage all employees to see themselves as contributors and collaborators in the company’s commitment to safety. This year’s theme, “Strong Voices, Safe Choices,” reminds us that every worker should be empowered to speak up and take an active role in creating safer environments.
To help you prepare for Construction Safety Week 2023, visit Construction Safety Week to download daily toolbox talks, videos, tool kits activities and jobsite banners. The topics for each day are as follows: Monday - Engagement, Tuesday - Risk Identification, Wednesday - Brain Matters, Thursday - Continue Learning and Demonstration Day, Friday - Take Action and Thank You.
Be sure to make it a fun and memorable learning experience for everyone, and please share your event photos with the ACPA office.
Stay Safe,
