Construction Forms, Inc. (CFI) Announces Acquisition Of Tricon Wear Solutions

Construction Forms, Inc. (CFI), a portfolio company of H.I.G. Capital (H.I.G.), announced the acquisition of Tricon Wear Solutions (Tricon). Tricon is a leading manufacturer of abrasion wear-resistant products, specializing in highly engineered steel plates and other fabricated products. The acquisition will broaden CFI’s expertise and offerings in abrasion resistant products for demanding industrial applications.

CPE America Announces Promotions

CPE America, an authorized distributor of Everdigm and Zoomlion concrete boom pumps and city pumps, announces the promotion of Barbara Loyd to the position of service and spare parts coordinator. Barbara will be responsible for working with new and current customers. One of her main objectives is to coordinate training programs, maintenance, service visits, boom inspections and spare parts for current and new customers. Since joining the company in 2016, Barbara has served in the accounting department.

ASCC Establishes Sustainability Initiative Hotline

ST. LOUIS, MO – The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, MO, has established a telephone hotline and an email address for the sole purpose of receiving and answering questions about concrete construction as it relates to the industry’s sustainability initiative. Both are for members only. Jim Klinger, ASCC concrete construction specialist, answers both, with input from other ASCC technical staff and consultants.

ASCC ALERT! Bulletins

ST. LOUIS, MO – The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, has published its first ALERT!, a new bulletin to apprise members of issues and developments in the concrete construction industry. The first ALERT! covers Portland-Limestone Cement Concrete. “ALERT! bulletins will be published as needed to provide timely notice of unusual, challenging, and sometimes complex circumstances affecting the industry,” said Bruce Suprenant, PhD, PE, FACI, ASCC Sustainability Committee co-chair.

Settling an OSHA Citation

Shortly after issuing a citation to an employer, OSHA will often agree to reduce the penalty amount, provided the employer agrees not to contest it. But could agreeing not to contest your citation invite further trouble? Possibly. At the very least, contractors should give the issue considerable thought before entering into an early settlement with OSHA. And if you do decide to settle, always work to get the citation reduced to an “Other than Serious” status. Many of the companies you work with will overlook “Other than Serious” citations, but will frown on “Serious” citations and above.
